Frequently Asked Questions
1. Getting started
What is the SOLS Edu app?
SOLS Edu is a mobile application that provides examination trial tests, a full English course with learning videos and practice lessons, all to support users to improve their English up to B1-B2 on the CEFR* scale.
*The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard used to describe language ability across reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It provides a six-point, 6-level scale (A1 to C2) to define proficiency levels, making it easy to compare language qualifications, commonly used by teachers and employers worldwide.
Who is the ACE programme for?
SOLS edu ACE is mainly for students who are preparing for their end-of-high-school English examination, but it is open to anyone who wants to achieve a workable English proficiency up to B1-B2 on the CEFR scale.
Is the app free to use?
The trial tests and the course features are for free.
Some AI-enabled features may require payment for the AI service.
How do I create an account?
Download the app, click Create Account, and enter your details such as name, email, and password.
Do I need internet access to use the app?
Yes. Most features require an internet connection to stream videos, access course materials, and submit practice exercises and assessments.
Is there a recommended age to study on the app?
If you are in school, you can start studying as early as you wish, but we recommend that you begin at 12 years old. We also recommend that students start at least 6 months prior to their examination to have sufficient time to study and practise.
2. Courses and Learning
What types of courses are available on SOLS edu ACE?
There is an English course starting from beginner level and covering grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking practice up to upper-intermediate level (B1-B2 on the CEFR scale).
How long does it take to complete the course?
The full course takes on an average about 100 hours to complete, depending on your learning pace and number of repetitions.
However, the course is tailored to your needs according to the results in the placement test. The higher the score in the placement test, the more lessons you unlock and can skip, and the entire duration becomes shorter.
Can I learn at my own pace?
Yes. The course is self-paced and structured in bite-sized lessons, allowing you to complete lessons at a time and pace convenient for you.
3. Videos and Learning Materials
Where are the learning videos hosted?
Some learning videos are hosted on secure platforms such as YouTube (via unlisted links) and are accessed through the app.
Will I be redirected to YouTube to watch videos?
In some cases, videos may open in YouTube depending on your device settings.
Do I need a YouTube account to watch the videos?
No. A YouTube account is not required to watch course videos.
4. Assessments and Progress
How are assessments conducted?
Courses include practice exercises, quizzes, assignments, or other forms of evaluation to help measure learning progress. You will need to achieve a minimum score to be able to progress in your learning.
Can I retake quizzes or tests?
In the placement/trial tests you can only take the test once.
In the course, you can repeat the practice exercises and quizzes.
How can I track my progress?
Your course dashboard displays completed lessons, assessments, and overall progress.
5. Certification
Do I get a certificate?
Yes, the course comes with a digital certificate upon successful completion of all the locked lessons.
You will receive a feedback form at the end of the programme. Once you’ve completed that feedback form, we will email your certificate within 5 – 14 working days.
When will I receive my certificate?
Certificates are normally issued within 5 – 14 business days after completing the feedback form.
If this period has passed and you still haven’t received your certificate, please email us as solssystems@sols247.org.
This way, we’ll be able to help expedite your certificate preparation.
